What Happened

On 2 March 2026, a Russian drone struck one of the carriages of a suburban passenger train travelling near Apostolove in the Kryvyi Rih District of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The train crew brought the train to an emergency stop and the passengers were evacuated. The regional authorities reported a fire, while Ukrzaliznytsia stated that the train crew had eliminated the smoke.

Analysis

The lower bound reflects localised burning within part of one carriage and the minimum quantity of materials involved.
